• mGATS is a one stop platform for interested customers to seek information about green electricity and acquire mREC
• mGATS aimed to support the nation’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) to increase Renewable Energy (RE) capacity through providing green certification to customers
• Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) is a certificate that represents the delivery of 1 MWh of renewable energy to the grid and all associated environmental benefits of displacing 1 MWh of conventional power. Companies wishing to meet their sustainability goals may choose to purchase RECs as part of their renewable energy sourcing portfolio REC is a form of carbon offset for emission coming from grid electricity under GHG Protocol Scope 2.
• mREC is a branding for all RECs that is redeemed by TNBX for customers in Malaysia. mREC logo is trademarked by TNBX.
• mREC is redeemed from an internationally recognised registry that provides credibility of your electricity coming specifically from a renewable energy generator. Presently, the internationally recognised registry used is by I-REC Standard. I-REC registry is recognised by all major standards and campaign such as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and RE100.

• mGATS helps customers to acquire mREC, in which mREC would be able to provide clear information on the source of green energy. With mREC, customers can couple it with their electricity bills to make claims of green electricity and emission avoidance for their electricity carbon footprint under GHG Protocol Scope 2 emissions.
• Reselling of mREC is not possible as it will be retired directly to the purchaser by TNBX.
• This is necessary to ensure mREC is not traded extensively and serves only the local market in Malaysia.

• In line with Malaysian Government's aspiration to increase renewable energy generation to 31% by 2025, the Government has introduced a new program known as the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) to replace the existing myGreen+ scheme.
• With the implementation of the GET Programme, the consumers will have an option to purchase green energy without having to install their own solar rooftop or other renewable energy installations.
• Consumers enrolled in the GET Programme will receive the Malaysian Renewable Energy Certificate (mREC) which is recognized internationally at the end of each year.
• Subscribing to GET means that supporting environmentally friendly and green agenda such as to meet your sustainable targets through offsetting electricity’s carbon emission, and boost “eco-friendly” brand image.
• In addition, you are supporting growth of the renewable energy industries and reduce reliant on gas or coal-fired power plants.
• The amount of Green Electricity that customer can subscribe shall be less than or equivalent to thirty percent (30%) of average monthly consumption.
• In line with GET Guideline, TNB reserves the right to review customer’s GET subscription in the event customer’s actual electricity consumption is lower than their green electricity subscription to ensure fair sharing of limited Green Electricity quota.
• GET programme is backed by mREC to give assurance that consumers will receive green electricity. Consumers enrolled in the GET programme would receive the Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificate (mREC) which is recognized internationally by 1 month after the end of each year.
• You will receive an internationally recognized Malaysian Renewable Energy Certificate (mREC) that provides credibility of your electricity coming from a renewable energy generator. The source of REC is from the RE generators connected to the national grid that makes the claim more credible as compared to off-grid.
• GET Programme is offered to all TNB customers and they may opt to subscribe to GET Programme in 100 kWh blocks for Residential and 1,000 kWh blocks for Non-Residential at the rate of 3.7 sen/kWh.
• The subscription period for GET programme is for a minimum of twelve (12) months and will be automatically renewed unless the customer request to terminate or modify their subscription amount before the end of the subscription period.
• Customers may opt to increase the subscription amount at any time during the subscription period subject to the availability of quota.
• Electricity generated by renewable energy is not supplied to a specific home or business. When you subscribe to GET, TNB will match 100% of your subscription of GET from TNB renewable energy instead of using energy from natural gas or coal-fired power plants. This green energy enters the electric system daily and reduces the amount of energy you required from fossil-fuel based power plants.
• The resources for producing electricity for the purpose of the GET Programme will be from the renewable energy resources as determined and approved by the Energy Commission from time to time.
• The payment collected from GET programme will be used to support the implementation of national renewable energy agenda and initiatives.
• The Green Electricity Tariff Rider (GET) rate is determined by the Energy Commission based on the incremental cost incurred for the procurement of green energy by the system, compared to the System Marginal Price (SMP).
• In future, the calculation of the GET rate will be reviewed accordingly by Energy Commission, should there's any changes in RE prices or as other RE sources become available.
• Customers who opt for GET subscriptions will pay:
a) Standard applicable tariff rates as per Tariff Schedule for monthly electricity consumption; and
b) GET subscription charges at the rate of 3.7 sen/kWh
• Monthly GET billing will be based on GET subscription or customer's actual consumption whichever is lower.
• GET subscription charges will be prorated based on number of days in the scenario whereby customer subscribes GET in the middle of billing period.
• Green electricity subscribed shall be exempted from any calculation of ICPT surcharges or rebates for a period of 6 months, starting January to June 2023 and subject to Government’s review from time to time.
